I have to set it up manually in settings or a prompt appears on my phone.
Mine connects on its own. Just keep WiFi and Bluetooth on your phone.

Especially when the car starts. If you start your car and then turn on WiFi and Bluetooth, it won’t connect by itself.
@Barrett
I have the problem when I remote start, then get in and start the car, it struggles to connect.

Press and hold the radio power button for 5 seconds to restart it, then it should connect.
Edit: I mean the radio power button, not the car’s power button.

Every time, haha, I have to connect manually again but it doesn’t bother me much anymore.
This only happens when I remote start my car, not sure how to fix it though.

This could be the reason. I think you’re right, it mainly happens when using remote start.
I’m glad they didn’t put everything on the screen and included buttons.

Same here. It’s a great balance.
Mine does this sometimes. I also get a pop-up from the Toyota app that I always have to click ‘allow’ for, which is annoying. I’m glad it’s not just me.

It’s really annoying. Thought it was just me.

Exactly. You shouldn’t have to click ‘allow’ every time. It seems like it’s mainly due to remote start. I don’t have the issue when starting the car normally.
@Wyatt
Just leave it for a few seconds and it goes away. I just don’t click ‘accept’ anymore.
Whenever I remote start mine, it does this, but if I get in and then start it, it usually connects on its own every time, although there have been a few times when it hasn’t.
It might be related to remote start. I think the drive entertainment module is split into three parts. The WiFi and Bluetooth are in module 228B, which only gets power when the start button is pressed, not when the accessory or engine starts. It’s a strange design. Maybe try testing it without remote start.
@Eden
It seems to be because of the remote start. Thanks for the info.
I have 3 cars with CarPlay. This 25 XSE is the only one with this problem. WiFi and Bluetooth are on when entering the car and push to start, and more than half the time it doesn’t connect. I have to go to the menu to enable it again. It’s not a remote start issue, it just doesn’t work 60% of the time.
@Devi
I hope it’s something that can be fixed with a system update.
I found that deleting the Toyota app helps you stay connected to CarPlay.
