Mine starts automatically as soon as I start the car.
Nope, not at all.
I have a 2025 XSE and I don’t have to start CarPlay. I use it without the ATT Hot Spot, which is an unnecessary subscription. Search Toyota Car Play on Google for support to improve your CarPlay connection.
Remote start will stop CarPlay from connecting automatically.
I’ve never had an issue.
Mine connects automatically.
The Corollas also have this sometimes with this generation.
They usually connect eventually, BUT if you use the remote start and your phone connects before you get in, the console shutting down and turning on again can cause most phones to temporarily disable the automatic connect feature. If you turn it off and on again, you’ll always need to connect manually.
It still puzzles me how Toyota struggles with this when other manufacturers have figured out to leave the car running when remotely started, only disabling features when you move the stick instead of when the first door opens, allowing a smooth transition from remote start to use.
It will automatically connect if you’re the primary user, but if you’re a secondary user, you’ll have to connect manually.

I use Android Auto. I’m the secondary user; it’s my wife’s car. It automatically connects to my phone if I’m the first one in the car. I think CarPlay should work the same.
Your car is competing with your home WiFi in your garage. I bet this doesn’t happen in a parking lot when you’re not on WiFi and start it up. It has nothing to do with it being a Camry.
Mine connects when I turn Bluetooth on at the same time I start the car. If I have Bluetooth on and start the car after 10 minutes, it won’t connect.
I fixed it from happening twice by rebooting my phone.
Turning on WiFi on the car or on the phone?
Mine was like this for a while. It stopped and started connecting automatically and has been fine since. I didn’t change anything, so I can’t say what fixed it, maybe just ‘time’.
Mine will automatically connect to CarPlay about 95% of the time. Sometimes it doesn’t, and I have to go into the menu to turn it on. Also, even when it’s connected, the app always pops up on my phone asking for permission to connect. If I choose not to allow it, it connects anyway. It’s a hassle when I’m trying to move photos from my camera to my phone. Disconnecting works for about half a second before reconnecting again.
Mine connects 50% of the time. I don’t know what makes it automatic or requires me to do it myself.
I click that button and I still can’t get CarPlay to work. No matter what I do. It’s really annoying.
When I got the car, I had many issues connecting. After 1-2 months it was smooth until an update two weeks ago, and it’s been acting up.
Try the magic link or the magic box.
The screen looks so nice. Hope I get enough money next year to get one.
