Switched to 17-inch wheels on my 2025 Camry XSE, big improvement?

I’ve had this car since July last year and love almost everything about it. But I’ve had mixed feelings about the stock 19-inch wheels. They’re smooth on most roads, but on rougher ones, the ride can get uncomfortable.

I swapped them for 17-inch Enkei TS-10 wheels, and the difference is noticeable. The ride is much more comfortable without feeling too soft, probably because of the XSE’s suspension. I’m running 32 psi (the tire pressure calculator suggested 31 psi) instead of the stock 35 psi. I also kept the stock 235 width tires, so handling hasn’t changed much.

At first, I was worried the smaller wheels would look off, but I think they turned out fine.

Specs: 17x8 +45 offset, 235/50R17 tires.

Not sure why photos didn’t show up at first, but here it is lol

How much did the swap cost?

Just under $2k. I sold my stock wheels and Pirelli tires to the shop and used that money toward the new setup.

Does the car come with a full-size spare, or did you replace that too?

@Gia
Nope, just a donut spare.

@Gia
Yeah, just a temporary spare tire, a donut.

Your fuel efficiency might have improved too! I wish I could’ve bought your 19s. I didn’t know I could add them as an upgrade for $1,500, or I would’ve done it when I bought mine.

I sold the stock wheels for $450, including the Pirelli tires. I lost money on it, but the comfort was worth it.

@Oren
Wow, you gave those rims away. People usually pay close to new prices for them since they break often. Some prefer the low-profile look too.

@Oren
Man, you got ripped off. That wasn’t worth it.

Yeah, I knew I was losing money, but I didn’t want the hassle of selling them separately. Plus, I had nowhere to store them.

It actually looks pretty good. I like the chunkier tire look.

Thanks! I’ve always liked the beefier tire look too.

This is exactly what I was thinking of doing for my 2024 XSE. Thanks for sharing!

Any difference in MPG?

I’m getting about 2-3 more MPG than before. The wheels are around 15 lbs lighter per corner, so the car feels a lot more responsive.

Good move. The ride is better, and you won’t have to worry about expensive rims getting damaged by potholes. Dealers always keep a few XSE wheels in stock because they break so often.

I used to have 16-inch wheels on my old Camry. Now I have 17s, and while the ride isn’t as smooth, the handling is better. I can’t imagine going bigger than 19s on a daily driver.

I don’t like how new cars keep getting bigger wheels by default.
