They say they can't stay in business without raising rates…

And they wonder why people hate insurance companies? My rate jumped from $606 every 6 months to $975. No accidents, no tickets, same 5-year-old Subaru Forester with all the safety features. They just decided to bump it up 40 percent. I’m paying almost double in Tampa compared to what I used to pay in Ohio, and I only drive about 800 miles a month. I’m 67… guess I’ll spend the week looking for a better deal.

You moved from Ohio to Tampa… that’s the issue, not the insurance company. Higher risk means higher rates. More cars, more accidents, more thefts.

A lot of people forget about stuff like this when moving to big cities.

One bad storm and your car could be toast.

Yeah, my buddy in Clearwater is paying crazy rates too.

I pay $87 a month for my ‘21 Forester Sport. $250 deductible. I’m in Iowa and I’m 33.

You probably also pay $428 for your corn thresher. It evens out.

Which insurance company are you with?

State Farm.

Driving has gotten way worse after the pandemic.

2022 was one of the deadliest years for car accidents. Over 3,900 people died in crashes in California alone.

Seriously. People drive like maniacs now—fast, reckless, no cops anywhere to stop them.

Check new insurance every 6 months. Annoying, but it saves money.

2015 Forester here, no accidents or tickets.

I was paying $134 a month before COVID, now it’s $254. They blamed it on more people moving here.

Who are you with? Might be worth switching if there’s a cheaper option.

I paid $113 a month in PA… moved to Baltimore and now it’s $357.

More people, more accidents, higher rates. I had zero accidents in 8 years, then got hit by a red-light runner within 6 months of moving here.

Florida has the 8th highest insurance rates in the country.

Hurricanes make insurance expensive in Tampa. Way riskier than Ohio.

Not a problem for me… I’ll just head to my cabin in North Carolina if a storm is coming.

Thanks for posting this… just checked my policy, and it’s the same deal.

I’m 67, live in the Florida panhandle, no tickets, no accidents, no claims… time to start shopping.

Expect rates to keep climbing. At some point, insurers will just stop doing business in Florida altogether.

@Landry
Yeah, the quotes I’m getting are not looking great.

Might be easier to move somewhere without hurricanes.
