Saw a 2025 Sequoia TRD Pro on the road, and it looked amazing! But I’ve barely seen any out there, so I’m curious if anyone here has actual driving experience with it? I’ve read the reviews on Car and Driver and Edmunds, and they aren’t too great. Wondering if anyone can share real-world pros and cons?
Some details:
I’ve got two young kids in car seats
Planning to take it on some camping trips and long road trips, but mainly just city driving

The interior is poorly designed… a lot of wasted space.
That’s my take too… it’s a bigger car, but there isn’t much more space inside. I went with the 4Runner last time because of this. The 6th gen 4Runner has a third row now, so that might be something to consider as well.

GX550 Overtrail+ feels like a better deal to me. Sequoias are rare because of the price and Toyota doesn’t make a ton of them.
Honestly, the third row in the Sequoia kills the cargo space. If you need that extra seating, a minivan might be the better choice overall for functionality.

We’ve got a minivan already, but we have four kids and do a lot of overlanding. Currently driving a GX470 and want to upgrade to something with more towing power.

The Highlander’s nice, but it’s way smaller than the 4Runner. I parked my 2015 Highlander next to a 5th-gen 4Runner, and the 4Runner made the Highlander look tiny.
The Sequoia TRD Pro is definitely eye-catching, but if you’re mostly doing road trips or city driving and not heavy off-roading, maybe look at the Platinum or Hybrid MAX trims of the Grand Highlander. You’d get the third row and similar cargo space for a lot less.
Differences:
Ground clearance: TRD Pro has 9.1", Grand Highlander has 8"
Drivetrain: TRD Pro has part-time 4WD, Grand Highlander has AWD
Towing: TRD Pro can tow 9,020 lbs vs. Grand Highlander’s 5,000 lbs
Mileage: TRD Pro gets around 20 mpg, while the Grand Highlander Hybrid MAX gets about 27 mpg
