Just read that Toyota admitted to some serious transmission problems with the new Tacoma… not great news.

This is why you never buy the first year of a new model, even with Toyota.

Same thing happened with the first year of the GR Corolla in 2023. Clutches were burning up quickly, and it was hard to figure out why. They ended up changing the clutch material for the 2024 model. Glad I waited!

Clutches? Man, some of those cars literally caught fire.

Only a couple of GR Corollas had fires, and both had accidents before. My 2023 GR Corolla has been perfect.

I got a 2021 Sienna Hybrid, but that drivetrain had already been used in the Rav4 Prime and Highlander Hybrid since 2020. Felt like a safer bet.

They didn’t sell a ton anyway… not many could even find one. That might’ve saved them some trouble.

I think the second generation had some issues too in the first couple of years.

Heard their manual transmissions have overheating issues too.

Wow, that’s crazy. I once drove an 87 Ford Ranger with no gear oil in the transmission for days. Never even noticed anything until I saw a giant hole in the oil pan.

Folks with Toyota eCVT’s are winning, if you ask me.

Unless you’re stuck in traffic or on hills.

Totally unrelated, but nice GP stack by the way!

Pretty sure the issue affects both manual and auto transmissions.

The article says manuals aren’t affected, so those with three pedals can relax.
Wish they’d admit the CHR has issues too!
Looks like Toyota’s slipping… down with GMC now.
