Went for a test drive and got 3k off the sticker price yesterday 😄 2024 BRZ tS

How many dealerships did you visit to get that deal?

Just one, actually. I was looking for a sports car in the $50k-$70k range. Tried out the Mustang GT, Nissan Z, M240i, M2, S5, RS3, and was almost set on the M2. But then I thought, why not check out this BRZ that had been sitting on the lot for a while. It was just so fun to drive. Ended up with a $500 monthly payment for 3 years on the BRZ, compared to $1,600 for the M2, plus double the insurance and likely more speeding tickets! In Germany, though, I’d have gone for the M2 for sure.

Is the only difference between the tS and the Limited the Brembo brakes and some accents?

It also has upgraded Hitachi front suspension components, some blue interior details, and a sportier STI-style dash display.

I wish my Outback was paid off so I could buy one of these. It’s such a slick-looking car!

(I went with the Outback because it’s more practical for what I do.)

Yeah, I’ve got a green 2024 Crosstrek for practical stuff too.

In that first pic, the street light pole in the background looked like a giant wing on the BRZ, and I thought, ‘Why did someone put a wing on a brand-new 2024 BRZ? Give it a chance before adding stuff!’

Love the color, by the way.

Love the car, but I wish Subaru/Toyota made it faster.

I almost bought a new M2, but after chatting with a guy who had one, he told me it was too fast for daily driving and less fun than he expected. So, I rethought things and realized I could save a ton by going with a rare-spec BRZ that’s like a mini Lotus or Cayman. Plus, it’s more fun to push on regular roads!

@Kieran
You made the right call. It’s way more enjoyable to push a ‘slower’ car to its limits than to drive a fast one carefully.

And for ~$30k, the BRZ isn’t actually that slow.

Agreed, it’s really fun to drive and push without hitting 100+ mph.

@Mia
I had a 2019 and got to drive the new generation during a Subaru track day before its release. The new BRZ is one of the best driving cars under $50k, and surprisingly practical as a daily driver.

@Fox
Yep, for sure. I had winter tires on mine, and it felt super secure even in snow. It’s a great all-year-round car.

That’s awesome. I’ve since moved to a Lotus, but I agree that the BRZ is a fantastic car. Lotuses are amazing drivers’ cars too, though a bit less practical!

@Kieran
If it’s not mid or rear engine, it’s not quite the same. They should bring back the MR2—that would sell like crazy. Wasn’t there a 4-cylinder Italian car with a carbon fiber body too?

MR2s were such fun cars back in the day!

You’re probably thinking of the Alfa 4C. It’s got a DCT, though, which is a bit of a letdown.

@Ripley
Yes, that’s the one! I couldn’t remember if it was Maserati or Fiat, but I knew it was close.

@Kieran
After having cars with 160hp, 210hp, 300hp, 360hp, and now 470hp, it’s hard to go back to less power. Even my 360hp STI feels slow now.

Mustang?
